Chester Leroy Swearingen,83, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at Signature Health Care. He was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Brazil to Ernest and Minnie (Anderson) Swearingen. He graduated from Staunton High School. Chester retired from IBM after working many years as a computer operator.
He was a member of Peniel Methodist Church, Kerman Grottto, Eagles Aerie 291, Eagles Aerie 291, Brazil Lodge 541 Free & Accepted Masons, Cape Coral Elks 2596, and the Outdoor Recreation Club. Chester loved to garden and work outside in his spare time. He also loved to eat. Most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family.
Chester is survived by his partner of 38 years, Frances Bukovack of Terre Haute;
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Phillip Swearingen; and a sister, Lillian Rose Thomas.
