She was born October 11, 1942, in Forsyth County, to the late Spurgeon Holmes Foster, Sr. and Virginia Lucille Melton Foster. At the age of 8, she was diagnosed with a juvenile diabetic case now known as juvenile diabetes. For the next 64 years, she followed the doctor’s orders and remained in pretty good shape. She never let the diabetes get the victory until the very end, but she remained a fighter. Mrs. Musgrave’s first job out of high school was secretary of Mocksville Savings and Loan. When her husband started his own business, she retired from the bank to help him for the next five years until her health forced her into retirement.
Survivors include her loving husband of 34 years, Roger Eugene Musgrave of the home; two brothers, Spurgeon Foster, Jr., (Sherry) and Jerry Foster (Cindy); two nieces, Jessica Foster Thomas (Jack) and Lisa Foster; four great-nieces, Addisyn and Brooklyn Thomas and Clara Tate and Emmie Foster, all of Mocksville; two nephews, Bryan Foster (Beth) of Roper and Wesley Foster (Heather) of Columbia; four great-nephews, Peyton, Luke, Ayden & Henry Foster; and two aunts, Lucille Melton and Ruth Foster, both of Mocksville; sister-in-law, Carole Musgrave Sorrell (Guy) of Charlotte; brother-in-law, Steven Michael Musgrave; sister-in-law, Nancy Musgrave Wheelock, both of Welcome; stepdaughter, Angie Musgrave Taylor (Stafford) of Archdale; and her four doting and adoring cats who will truly miss her, Pumpkin, Spanky, Blackie and Nola.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Darren Johnson of Hebron Baptist Church, Statesville officiating. Interment will follow in Cornatzer United Methodist Church Cemetery.
