Joseph “Eggy” Adams Jr., 90, of Timblin, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born March 22, 1924, in Oakridge, a son of the late Mary (Nolf) and Joseph Adams Sr. On June 18, 1955, he married Evelyn (Dinger) Adams, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Joseph worked at Sharon Steel for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on cars.
In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two sons, Archie Adams and wife Wanda of Ringgold and Dave Adams and fiancé Jayme Rockwell of Timblin; five granddaughters, Amy Cessna of Punxsutawney, Amanda Kurtz and husband Adam of Rossiter, Kasie Adams of Punxsutawney, Jordan Adams of Punxsutawney and Leslie Sisk and husband Tom of Punxsutawney; five great-grandchildren, Aiden Kurtz, Kaitlyn and Kellan Cessna, Logan Geist and Landon Sisk; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Carl Adams; two sisters, Sis Yoder and Dora Engle; and four brothers, Howard, Alvin, Lawrence and Francis Adams.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at the funeral home, with Reverend Kenneth Alt officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Adams to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be made at www.deeleyfuneralhome.com.
