Leonard M. Weikle, age 77, resident of Myers Rd., Shelby died Friday, June 13, 2003 in MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital. Born June 28, 1925 in Sarton, WV to Otho M. and Nannie (Broyles) Weikle he had been a Shelby area resident since 1947. Mr. Weikle was a retired iron worker from Local #550 and had been employed with Westinghouse, Mansfield Structural and Mike Volk. A member of the First United Methodist Church he enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets, collecting antiques, fruit jars, and tools, and gardening.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ron and Jill Weikle and Brent Weikle, all of Shelby; five grandchildren, Matt Weikle of Clintonville, OH; and Jeremy, Jeb, Jessica and Jacqueline Weikle of Lexington; one great-granddaughter, Sommer Christine Weikle; one great-grandson, Parker Matthew Weikle; two brothers, Lionel Weikle of Dublin, VA and Floyd Weikle of Bellville, OH; six sisters, Eva Blake of Maxwelton, WV; Evalie Linkous of Ronceverte, WV; Wilda Judy of Meadow Springs, WV; Virginia Lee of Richmond, VA; Wilma Ferrina of College Park, MD; and Edna Rockwell of Martinsville, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, O. Lucille Weikle in 2001, two brothers, Marcus and Norman Weikle and one sister, Lucille Reiss.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday from the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend Carl G. Beighley will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5-8PM. Memorial expressions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
