AXWELTON — Eva Weikle Blake, 93, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, after a short illness.

Born May 24, 1916, in Sarton, she was the daughter of the late Otho and Nannie Broyles Weikle of Sarton.

Eva was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had lived in Maxwelton for several years and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Velton A. Blake; three brothers, Marcus Weikle, Leonard Weikle and Norman Weikle; two sisters, Edna Rockwell and Lucille Reiss.

Survivors include four daughters, Martha Long and special friend, Olin Pendleton, of Troutville, Va., Linda Pritt and husband, Richard, of Frankford, Lilly Ellison and husband, Steve, of Greenville and Mildred Crislip and husband, Billy, of Weyers Cave, Va.; one son, John L. Blake of Maxwelton; two brothers, Floyd Weikle of Mansfield, Ohio, and Lonnie Weikle of Dublin, Va.; four sisters, Evalie Linkous of Ronceverte, Virginia Lee of Midlothian, Va., Wilma Ferrina of College Park, Md., and Wilda Judy of Dawson; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at the Longanacre Funeral Home Chapel, Fairlea, with Rev. Janice Johnson and Rev. Ronald Miller officiating. Burial to follow in the Mount Alexander United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sarton.

Friends may call 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 13, 2009, at the Longanacre Funeral Home, Fairlea.

Donations of sympathy may be made to the Clifton Presbyterian Church, Maxwelton, W.Va., or to the Mount Alexander United Methodist Church, Sarton, W.Va.
