Jane Betz was born in Morgan Twp., March 27, 1812, being the daughter of David and Margaret Rainey Bell. David Bell settled in Morgan Twp. at an early day. He was a native of Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Bell of Ireland. The reared five children, two of whom are living, Robert J. and Mrs. Betz. Mr. and Mrs. Bell died in 1834, from cholera. heir daughter was educated in the common schools, and was at home until the death of her parents. She was married to Ludwick Betz about this time. Mr. Betz was then deputy auditor, under James B. Cameron, and afterwards was elected to the same position for two terms. He was also county surveyor from 1836 to 1842. He died September 2 1847. He was a successful business man and an esteemed citizen. Mrs. Betz is a member of the Universalist Church and has resided in Hamilton since 1835.
