Nellie Weaver Bennett Dies
Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Nellie Weaver Bennett, 85, formerly of Johnsonville, currently a resident of Gardena; Calif., on Tuesday, Aug 30, 1983, at a California hospital.
Mrs. Bennett had been in poor health for the last six years. She has been away from Wayne County for the past 40 years.
Reared at Johnsonville
She was raised in the Johnsonville area and lived most of her early married llife there.
Funeral services were held at the First Southern Baptist Church in Gardena, Calif., with burial in California.
Mrs. Bennett was born at Johnsonville, July 28, 1898, the daughter of Frank and Lillie Weaver.
She was married to Charles Bennett who preceded her in death. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett lived on the farm now owned by Kenny and Vicky Erb.
Survivors include three daughters, Rosetta Adams, and Vermadel King, of Hawthorne, Calif, Virginia Conner, of San Diego, Calif; three sons, Owen Bennett; Olan E. Bennett and Rex Bennett, all of Hawthorne, Calif; two sisters, Naomi Peddicord and Claudine Legg, of the Wayne County area; two brothers, Herb Weaver and Owen Weaver, of Wayne County; and a number of nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son.
