Willard was born on November 21,1895 in Champaign, Illinois to Martin and Emma (Walker) Sitts. He and his twin Wayne were number 6 and 7 of 9 children. He served in WWI. He married Emma Singleton in 1917 and they had a daugther, Virginia Lee. Willard served in the Army during WWI. Emma passed away on May 6, 1919 when Virginia Lee was just 5 months old leaving Willard to raise their baby girl alone. Willard moved back home with his parents with Virginia. He married Iva Edith Mattingly on November 2, 1921 in Missouri. Willard and Iva had 4 children, Willard (Junior), Calvin Ray, Betty Jean and Carol Dean (Bucky) and raised Virgina along with them. In 1935 the family moved to Idaho.

In 1939 they gave a small piece of land to start a Free Holiness Church in Wilder. Iva, Willard and her brother Marion and his wife Mamie helped build the church. They were very devoted to their church. The area where the Free Holiness Church was became known as "Sittsville". They had big vegetable an flower gardens; people from the area would stop by for flowers to decorate graves on Memorial Day.

I don't have any memories of my grandpa as he passed away on July 23, 1958 about a month after my first birthday after suffering a stroke many months earlier. He is buried in the Wilder Cemetery.
