Actor, Voice Actor, Television Director, Songwriter. His career spanned over 70 years. He is probably best remembered as the practical-joking kid barber in the Oscar-winning movie "Boys Town" (1938), in which he smeared Mickey Rooney's face with black shoe polish and got a black eye for his trouble. Before his adulthood, he would act in 102 movies, and was later active behind the camera as a voice actor, director, and songwriter for TV.
