Theophil & Juliana left Switzerland in 1884 and eventually settled in Montana. Their two oldest children, Victor and Daniel, were born in Randa. the rest of their children were born in America.
Theophil & Juliana returned to Switzerland briefly in 1900 to visit family members, including Alois and Juliana's mother Maria Summermater. They took along their two youngest children at the time, George and Emil. On the return home Emil got sick. Juliana stood holding him in the vestibule of the train all across America so as not to disturb the other passengers. He died after they returned to Boulder, Montana. Juliana took in washing to buy the headstone that now marks his grave.
The home that Theophil built for his family in Boulder still stands.
All of Emil's eight siblings survived to adulthood. In fact his youngest sister Julia, born three years after his death, lived to be 103. His brother William was my grandfather.
