Young Mother Died Here Last Week
Mrs. Vera Allen, aged 20 years, wife of Sam Allen, of Claude, died Thursday afternoon, June 16, at the family home in South Claude, after an illness of eight days.
Mrs. Allen, formerly Miss Vera Underwood, was born at Woodford, Oklahoma, August 6, 1898.
She was converted and joined the Baptist Church in 1912. Her marriage to Samuel Lester Allen occurred on May 3, 1920.
To this union was born three children, Pauline, Edna Fay and Marvin Leslie, the latter born June 8, 1927.
Besides her husband and children, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Underwood, two brothers and five sisters.
The funeral service at the Baptist Church Friday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by her pastor, Re. L. P. Thomas, assisted by Rev. W. A. Hitchcock , pastor of the Methodist Church.
Burial was in Claude Cemetery.
