Born "Anna Maria Acker", but called "Mary", to Jacob & Elizabeth (nee: Kief) Acker.

Entered the Racine Dominican community as a postulant on October 3, 1865, at age 13. Entered the novitiate August 9, 1867, and was given the name "Sr. Emily of the Holy Angels".
Professed her vows on August 4, 1867.

Elected prioress of the Racine Dominican Sisters in 1901. Mother Emily served as prioress from 1901-1907. In 1913, she was elected to serve as vicaress under re-elected prioress Mother Cecilia Fox. Upon Mother Cecilia's death in November 1915, Sr Emily again became prioress until the next election was held in March 1916.

Mother Emily was keen on preserving the history of the Racine Dominican community right up until her death. She collected diaries, letters, and records that helped to document the first fifty years of the community.
