MRS. MARY PAULINE "POLLY" COTTEN BRADLEY PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY INTO THE HANDS OF THE LORD AT HER RESIDENCE ON FRIDAY, May 5, 2006, after a lengthy illness.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bradley will be held at 3:30 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2006, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel. Rev. Burley Moore will conduct both the chapel and graveside services. The burial will be at Guilford Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be nephew, Sonny Cotten, nephew, Nathan Cotten, special friend of the family, Brian Maness, grandson-in-law, John Batts, grandson, Ben Sechrest, and special friend of the family, Rick Brewer.
Born and raised in Chatham County, Mrs. Bradley was born August 9, 1919, the third of three children born to the late Mr. Reggie Morris Cotten, father and the late Mary Esther Woodell Cotten, mother.
Two brothers predeceased Mrs. Bradley, Henry Esmond Cotten in 1982 (surviving spouse, Margie), and Halder Morris Cotten in 1978 (surviving spouse, Virginia).
On May 11, 1941, in Cheraw, SC, Pauline Cotten married Robert H. Bradley of Sanford, NC, who survives of the home, and they have built a lifetime of memories together for the last 65 years.
Their union produced two children, son, Ronald Robert Bradley (deceased January 27, 2006) with surviving wife, Sylvia of Mebane, NC, and surviving daughter, Elaine Bradley Brewer and husband, Jeff of Archdale, NC.
Also surviving Mrs. Bradley are two grandchildren, Benjamin David Sechrest of Greensboro, and Cindy Ann Bradley Batts and husband, John of Greensboro, NC as well as one step-granddaughter, Christy Brewer Stokes of Asheville, NC; and one step-great-grandson, Coltrane Port Stokes, also of Asheville, NC. Also surviving Mrs. Bradley are two fur-baby grandchildren, Dusty and Buddy.
Mrs. Bradley worked in the past for Sears and Roebuck when it was located on Eugene Street in downtown Greensboro and for Fleet Plummer Hardware when it was located in Friendly Shopping Center.
She will be remembered by friends and family for being a loving, caring wife, mother grandmother. She was a very giving person with a big heart and will be very much missed by family and friends.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Greensboro, particularly Ann Marie Townsend, RN and Michelle Morris, social worker, for their wonderful care and compassionate support given both to Mrs. Bradey and the family during Mrs. Bradley's illness. Also special thanks to the Hospice Volunteers, Linda and Ann for the giving of their time so freely. Also, the family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Home Loving Senior Care, Inc. and all the caregivers that were involved with Mrs. Bradley's home care. Special thanks to Judy Boggs, President of Home Living Senior Care, Betty Little and Donna Caldwell for being so willing to work out schedules on such short notice. Special thanks also to caregiver, Gretchel King, caregiver, Elaine Fraley, caregiver, Melody Grotten, and most particularly, special thanks to Belinda Atkins for her special loving care and attention during Mrs, Bradley's illness.
