Frances Margaret Hendrix (Messer) was born on September 9, 1924 in Vananda, Montana to Barbara (Zentner) and Francis (Frank) Messer.
She was a guard on the basketball team, attained second place in the state shot put for the track team, was a member of 4-H, and graduated high school at Great Falls, Montana in 1942.
Unable to get her parents permission to join the Navy, Frances went to nursing school and graduated at Miles City, Montana in 1947.
She moved to Washington to be a nurse for the TB clinic at the Indian Hospital, then went to on to complete 25 years as an RN at St. Joe's Hospital in Tacoma, WA.
On January 12, 1952 Frances married Ralph Hendrix Jr. She enjoyed family get together, trips to the ocean, and the Mariners baseball with her five loving children.
On December 18, she died peacefully at The Village Senior Living in Tacoma, WA.
She is loved and missed by her sister Leona Greene of Kansas and children in Tacoma: Barbara Benthien, Carolyn Maxson (Phil), Maureen Rickertsen (NaVon), Ralph, and Tom (Peggy) in Laurel, MT. Her grandchildren are Charlie (Stephanie) and Shawn DeNune; Kory (Nick) Hamilton; Jeff and Dennis (Jennifer) Hendrix; David Hendrix; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, ten siblings, and son-in-law John Benthien. The family grave side is 10:30 AM, December 23rd, and memorial service starts at 11 AM at the Mountain View Funeral Home - Aspen Chapel.
