Julia Y. Gabriele, Rotterdam. Julia Y. Gabriele, 93, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of John and Maria Monaco. Many years ago Julia worked for General Electric and spent the majority of her life taking care of her family. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish and a member of the Mount Carmel Seniors. Julia enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining her grandchildren. Her husband, Carmen S. Gabriele, died in 2003. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Barry Mandell; and her siblings, Daniel Monaco, Mary Bonaquist, Angelo Monaco, Joseph Monaco, Irene Tucceri and Frances Saka. She is survived by her two daughters; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Julia is also survived by her brother, John (Marilyn) Monaco; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
