Johnnie (Marshall) Campbell was born on September 9, 1870 in Tennessee, the daughter of John Marshall Jr (1840–1871) and Ellen Christy (McClung) Marshall (1843–1927).
She was married about 1894 to Lemuel Russell Campbell (1859–1942), the son of Governor William Bowen Campbell (1807–1867) and Frances Isabella (Owen) Campbell (1818–1864).
Living on Murfreesboro Road in rural Nashville, Johnnie was 53 years old and married when she died of apoplexy on December 8, 1923. Burial was two days later in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
