Dovie's father, John, was born in Cannon Creek, Bell Co., KY. He was the son of Simon Peace (1834-1909) and Sarah Minerva Crawford (1846-1888).
Dovie's mother, Charity, was also born in Bell County. She was the daughter of John Anderson Barnett (1834- ?) and Telitha C. Pursiful (1840-1904).
About 1926, Dovie married widower, John Wilburn "Johny" Thacker (1900-1973). He was the son of George Riley Thacker (1856-1918) and Cynthia M. Lyons (1860-1941). Johny's first marriage was to Sarah Daisy Carr (1888-1923).
Johny and Dovie were married for about twelve years and had five known children. They were Charles Eugene Thacker (1927- ), Glenn Lee Thacker (1929-1961), Anna J. Thacker (1932- ), Harold Ralph Thacker (1936- ) and June Thacker (1938- ).
Dovie died, possibly from childbirth complications, on May 22, 1938 in Bell Co., KY at the young age of 28. She was buried in the Middlesboro Cemetery in Middlesboro, Bell Co., KY.
Following Dovie's death, her husband Johny married a third time, about 1940, to Margaret Louise "Maggie" Bryant (1904-1988). Maggie raised Johny's and Dovie's children plus she had three children of their own.
Johny died on Jan. 11, 1973 in Middlesboro, Bell Co., KY at the age of 72. He is buried in the Burch Cemetery where his first wife, Sarah Daisy Carr Thacker (1888-1923), and both of his parents are buried.
