Mystic - Richard Emory Murch, 65 of 224 Pequotsepos Road Extension, died Sunday at Mariner Health Care at Pendleton in Mystic.

Mr. Murch was born on April 10, 1925, in Hartford, the son of Emory and Florence Rowland Murch.

He married Althea Richards on August 4, 1979, in Mystic. She died on September 5, 1999.

Mr. Murch worked as a nuclear inspector with the Bechtel Co. and he also worked as a sheet metal worker at Electric Boat prior to his retirement in 1997.

He was a member of the Social Society of Froshinn of Mystic and the Portuguese Holy Ghost Society of Stonington.

Mr. Murch was an avid Red Sox and Washington Redskins fan.

He is survived by three sons, William and James Murch, both of Mystic, and Thomas Murch of New London; two stepsons, Jeffrey S. Huntington of Nashville, NC and Rich Spaningburge of Jackson, NC; two stepdaughers, Linda A. McArthur of Baileyville, Maine and Norma Jean Martin of Oceanside, California; and 12 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Elm Grove Cemetery.
