Sam was the son of Marshall R Carmon and Catherine Allen. He and at least 2 of his siblings died from consumption. His father died in 1901 and his mother died in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1938, burial of both unknown.

Sam Carmon, beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. M.R. Carmon, of just north of town, died of consumption at an early hour yesterday morning. Had he lived until May 3rd he would have been 18 years old.
