Joseph C. Franz, age 98, of 1138 S. 26th St., Manitowoc, died on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
He was born on March 12, 1911, in Manitowoc, son of the late Ignatz and Helen (Popp) Franz. On Jan. 10, 1934, he married the former Clara Schamburek at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. Joe and Clara celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on Jan. 10, 2006. Clara preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 2007. Joe was an office technician at Mirro Company for 50 years. He was a very active member and usher of the former St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Joe was a former member of the St. Mary's Men's Club and Holy Name and also enjoyed playing dartball. He was presently a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Joe was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved gardening, sports and card playing.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Elaine (Franz) Thone; a son: Eugene Franz; five brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
