James Perry Taylor is an enigma. He died, possibly by suicide…. Hanging (himself) near the railroad engine house on October 23, 1936. He was 56 years old. James was the son of Benjamin Taylor and Helena Pettit. He married in Pearl M. Longwell, in 1908. By the 1910 census, James was employed by as a laborer in a lumber mill. Sometime, between and before the 1920 censuses, Jim became an employee of the local gas well company, as a tool dresser. A tool dresser had a large responsibility of sharpening drills used in mining, quarrying, construction, and drilling wells.
By 1930, he was traveling around as a line walker, inspecting gas lines.
James only had one son, James Arlie Taylor. According to the census records, he was born in 1902.
