Death Occurred Thursday Night Following An Illness of Eight Months--Funeral Services Sunday Afternoon

A life-long resident Of Jackson Township, Emanuel Hummell died Thursday night at 8 o'clock at his farm home on the Greensburg Pike, following an illness of five months with dropsy, enlargement of the heart and other complications,

Mr. Hummel was 80 years old and was born May 2, 1838, near Millersburg, in the township where he lived with his parents up until the time of his marriage 59 years ago in Fremont to Sarah Goodman, the wife who preceded him to the grave thirteen years ago. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hummel took up their residence on a farm in Jackson township where they always resided and where both passed away. Since the death of the mother, the son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. George Hummel have been living with Mr. Hummell and cared for his during his long illness.

There are three children left to mourn the death of their father. They are: William Hummell, of Millersville, Mrs. Mandana White of Orville, O, and George E Hummell, of Jackson township.

All his life, Mr. Hummell had been interested in farming and devoting almost all his time to the cultivation of his farm. He had always been a member of the Bethlehem U.B. church, of which he was a faithful supporter and attendant.

The funeral services will be held from Bethlehem church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with the pastor, Rev Rhodes, of Burgoon, officiating. Burial will be made in the Smith Cemetery at Burgoon.
