Amanda Bowden, 86, died in her home in Gilchrist, Illinois, on October 15, 1946. The former Miss Amanda White, she was born November 9, 1859, in Millersburg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson White. Mrs. Bowden suffered a paralytic stroke three years ago but had been in fair health until a few days before her passing.
She was married to Ben Bowden and they resided in Gilchrist 46 years. Ben died in 1917. Their son, George, died 1936.
Mrs. Bowden was affiliated with Viola Methodist church.
Surviving are three daughters: Maude Moffitt of Matherville; Mary Elizabeth Riddell and Geneva Wertz, both of Aledo, IL.
