Tad was a kind and gentle man who will be missed very much by all who knew and loved him.
He was born to his very loving mother, Verna Sidell who so unselfishly gave him up to his adopted special, loving parents, Beatrice Evelyn & James Tolford Durham, when he was 6 months old. His birth father was Victor Green. He could not have chosen more loving and caring parents, adoptive or otherwise if he tried. He also had a sister, Jo D. Huff.
Born in Connecticut, Tad moved around a lot in his younger years, finally settling in Belfast, Maine. There he married and raised three fine sons. After he lost his wife in 1975, his dear mother helped him raise the boys.
I know Tad spent some time in the Air Force but I don't have any other details of his enlistment.
I know the silly things we shared, like his favorite color - blue; his favorite coffee was hazelnut; his favorite tea was peach. He loved oatmeal in the morning and his favorite dinner was steak, baked potatoes, and baby peas. His favorite dessert was cheesecake. I remember that he loved the fish chowder that his sister would make for him on special occasions; warm biscuits were another favorite of his.
Tad loved the smell of lilacs; His favorite movie was "Christmas Eve" with Loretta Young; He loved music sung by Vestal Goodman; He enjoyed all the old-time music as well as country.
Tad missed his mother so very much when she died and longed to be reunited with her from that day on. I know he's enjoying his reunion with her immensely.
Tad left behind his sister, Jo D. Huff; his three sons and their wives and several grandchildren.
God bless you Tad, as you watch over all of us from above. Until we meet again...
Love,
Sue
