Songwriter. Born in New York City, he was a lyricist, songwriter and musician, best known for his many popular songs. In 1940, he went to Hollywood and began writing songs for films. He was nominated for more than 30 Oscars, won four times and his songs were recorded by virtually every major singer. His many hits included "I've Heard That Song Before" (1942), "I'll Walk Alone"(1944), "Time After Time" (1947), Oscar winner "Three Coins in a Fountain" (1954), Oscar winner "All The Way" (1957), Oscar winner "High Hopes" (1959), Oscar winner "Call Me Irresponsible" (1963) and "My Kind Of Town" (1964). In 1972, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and also became the hall's President. He died in Los Angeles, California.
