Grover Mitchell was born near Retreat, TX, he is the second of 7 children forn of Wiley Mitchell and Maggie Sledge. He grew up in Grimes County. When he married Ruby they returened to Grimes county in 1933 where Grover worked for the TX Highway Department, Gulf States Utilities Company. He served 16 years as County Commissioner and worked for the volunteer fire department.
Children: Doris Lucille (11/12/1932 married Charles Edward Wilson 8/21/1953), Joyce Elaine (12/12/1937, married Aubrey Paul Adams 9/6/1958), Ross Coleman (7/14/1939, married Carolyn Sue Wheeler 8/14/1956)
