Leola L. “Polly” Certain, 82, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away February 21, 2015 at her home. She was born March 9, 1932 in Mt. Vernon, IN to Merle and Gertrude (Cameron) Baker.
Polly had worked as a cook and waitress and Highway Café, Penguin Pointe, and the American Legion. She was a member of the American Legion Post #5 Ladies Auxiliary and Humane Society of the U.S. Polly enjoyed cooking, watching cowboy movies, and loved cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Certain; brother, Kinsey Baker; and sisters, Eva Tabor and Gloria Weir.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Marilyn) Curtis of Mt. Vernon, IN; daughters, Susan (Barry) Ingle of New Harmony, IN and Shari Certain of Mt. Vernon, IN; 11 grandchildren, Stefani, Robby, Rachel, Dan, Derek, Kelly, Melanie, David, Savanna, Andrew, and Angel; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St. Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Randy Owen and Rev. Curt Mort officiating.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Posey Humane Society.
