Lydia was the daughter of Charles and Ann (Porter) Leatherbury. She married William J. Gibbs on March 14, 1844 in Switzerland County, Indiana. They had five children. After William's death in 1909, Lydia lived with her widowed daughter (Nettie Adams) on a farm in Glen Este, Ohio (east of Cincinnati). They were living in downtown Cincinnati at the time of her death.
