The Hartford Courant, (CT), March 29, 2007;

Florence ( Bagshaw ) Shepard of South Windsor, passed away peacefully on Tuesday night (March 27, 2007) of COPD. The pain is gone, the skies are blue and the air is clear. She was born on June 2, 1922 in Falls River, MA to Amy and George Bagshaw . The last of four children, she was predeceased by her sister, Muriel French and her brother, Harold Bagshaw and an older sister who died at birth. She spent the majority of her youth in Hartford, graduating from Bulkeley High School in 1939 with high honors. Upon graduation she worked for The Travelers for many years as a stenographer and retired in 1987. She met her husband, Carlton Shepard, who died May 10, 1989, as a youth and on July 12, 1941 they eloped to Somerset, MA and were married. She was a devoted mom and leaves three children, Marilyn Schillinger and her husband, Skip of Montgomery, TX, Kathleen Stimson and her husband, Dayton of South Windsor and David Shepard and his wife, Kimberly of South Windsor with whom she made her home for the last 17 years. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Stephen Schillinger, Dana Masse, Jeffrey Schillinger, Russell Stimson, Kelly Shepard and Jennifer Shepard along with six great grandchildren, Paul Fournier, Daniel Fournier, Jared Schillinger, Julia Schillinger, Emma Schillinger and Morgan Stimson. Mom loved to watch the old black and white movies, sitcoms of I Love Lucy and the Golden Girls along with Jag on the TV or get a good movie from Blockbusters. She enjoyed reading, knitting, play a challenging game of scrabble or card games, but most of all she loved her three chicks and their families and seeing them together and being with them. They were her world. We will miss her and she will be in our hearts forever. God Bless You Mom. There will be a funeral service Saturday March 31, 10 a.m. at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Friday March 30, 5-7 p.m. Special thanks to Lynne Aveline and the staff at Woodlake at Tolland for their exceptional care and compassion over the past seven months.
