Dorothy M. LaFleur, age 79, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Wednesday morning, February 25, 2015 peacefully at home after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Dorothy was born on October 5, 1935 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late Erhard and Eleanor (Maly) Peterik. Dorothy was a graduate of Algoma High School with the class of 1954. She continued her education at Lakeshore Technical College where she graduated in 1972 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed at Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Michigan Shores, Park Lawn Home, and Holy Family Convent. Dorothy was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Throughout her life she enjoyed doing many crafts including knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, crewel embroidery and many others. Dorothy was very fond of reading, especially mystery novels. She also enjoyed the companionship of many rescued cats, especially George who has been by her side to comfort her during this difficult time.

She is survived by six children: Rick LaFleur, Manitowoc; Theresa (Bruce) Terp, Two Rivers; Michele LaFleur, Manitowoc; Brian (Jacque) LaFleur, Manitowoc; Jane Janssen, Green Bay; Kelly (David) Tosdale, Manitowoc; nine grandchildren: Laura (Fredrick) Busse, Reedsville; Kylie Terp, Manitowoc; Jacob LaFleur, Manitowoc; Matti (Brennon) Hiott, San Diego, CA; Evan Brandt, Manitowoc; Samantha LaFleur, Manitowoc; Emily LaFleur, Manitowoc; Jordan Janssen, Green Bay; Josie Janssen, Green Bay; five great grandchildren: Blair Busse, Josee Busse, Fredrick Busse II, Zoey Busse, and Zaidyn Hiott; two sisters and one brother: Barbara (Rod) Glaeser, Fond du Lac; Thomas (Patricia) Peterik, Belgium; Nancy (David) Ludwig, Madison; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Erhard and Eleanor Peterik.

A Life Celebration Social will be held for relatives and friends on Monday, March 2, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Burial of her cremated remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc on Tuesday morning.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Connie Tosdale, the Holy Family Memorial Hospice staff and the Comfort Keepers staff for their dedicated care.
