It appears that his service was as a Chief Cook aboard ship from approximately 1936 until about 1946. He served aboard various ships and was in and out of various ports. Most of the time arrivals would be at New York and sometimes Boston or San Francisco. Father was George Korthof born in Holland. Mother was Bertha Muller born in Germany. Burial was October 25, 1948. Place of burial lists Sailors Snug Harbor Cemetery Staten Island, N. Y.
I think that this George Korthof could possibly be the same George Korthof that went by the name George Miller when he married Mary Delina Shank in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota on July 1, 1904. Possibly George took his mother's maiden name of Muller and Americanized it to Miller.
