Andrew was strickin with poliomyelitis and developed post-poliomyelitis syndrome which left him disabled for a number of years. He died en route to Kodiak Hospital for medical service.
Andrew was a member of the Unga Unit of the Alaska Territorial Guard. A quote from the Alaska Pen, Unga High School newsletter, "He did many fine things for his community and will not be forgotten soon".
Andrew was preceded in death by two sons, Seward and Carl. He is interred in the Russian Cemetery, Kodiak, Kodiak Island, Alaska.
