George Lucius Hoyt
George Lucius Hoyt son of Benjamin and Lydia Hoyt was born at Rockford Ill. on December 25 1854 and passed away at Burwell on January 14, 1926, at the age of 71 years and 20 days. While a small boy he moved with his parents to Montgomery county Iowa. On April 12, 1877 he was united in marriage to Julia Mercer at Red Oak Iowa. To this union were born six sons, Germain D., Clifford Eugene, Wilbur Raymond, Forrest Earl and Winfred.
Clifford passed away in 1894 at the age of 8 years and Wilbur passed away in 1891 at the age of one year.
He is survived by his wife and four sons, Germain of Ord, Forrest of Mulberry Kansas, Bernard of Elyria and Winfred of Burwell. He also leaves to mourn his loss, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A niece Mrs W B Johnson of Burwell and a nephew Howard Stennett of Ord. Besides numerous other relatives and a host of friends. His only sister Mrs DD St Clair passed away at Caldwell Idaho on November 21 1925, preceding her brother less than two months.
Mr. Hoyt was a tender loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His funeral was held at the Christian Church at Burwell by Rev. Gregg. He was laid to rest at the Ord Cemetery.
