James W. Vincent Dies; Rites This Afternoon At 1

James Wimberly Vincent, retired owner of J.W. Vincent Plumbing and Heating Co., died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997, in a local nursing home. He was 89.

Mr. Vincent was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Lee Anderson Sunday school class, the Chattanooga Historical Association, the Chattanooga Half Century Club and the American Organ Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Millard and Grace Younger Vincent; a brother, Edward Vincent; two sisters, Margaret Hammonds and Mary Adcox; and a stepson, Roderich McKenzie.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Kingston McKenzie Vincent; brother, Clarence Vincent; sister, Virginia Vincent; two stepdaughters, Kay Wilson, Chattanooga, and Mary Brooks, Florence, Ala.; nine step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was to be today at 1 p.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery with Lea Clower officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to "Changed Lives," Box 100, Chattanooga, TN. 37402, or to a favorite charity. Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, West.
