Biography: James Duckworth was a native of England. He was a miller by trade and was employed in the cotton mills of his native country for many years. After he was divorced from his wife, Alice, he later went to Australia and afterward to New Zealand, where he was employed in connection with the lumber business for a considerable period. He married a second time to Lucy Wilson. Alice came to America with her four children in 1880. She made her way westward to Taylorsville, Utah, and the following year she became the wife of William Beardshall and moved to Fairfield, Utah. James died on January 17, 1927 in Auckland, New Zealand.
