John Cepis, 96, of Prospect Park died March 9, 2015 at his home. Born in Cleveland, Ohio and has lived at his late residence for over 57 years. John was a plant manager for Medford Meats in Chester for 42 years. He served in the U.S. Navy/Coast Guard in the Pacific theatre during WWII. John was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church for over 50 years.
John had many hobbies and was passionate about cycling, which brought him many hours of joy and numerous friends on his journeys throughout Delaware County.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and community leader. He was the epitome of America's Greatest Generation.
John is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Elizabeth nee Blizzard. John had 13 children Margaret Kane (Harry), Martha Yates (Steven), Marian Devlin (Joseph), Michael Cepis, Mary Locklear (Thomas), Catherine Mink (Donald), Julia Woodward (Chris), John Cepis (Jane), Loretta Cepis, Harry Cepis (Faith), Thomas Cepis, Andrew Cepis (Regina), Elizabeth Cepis (Paulie), 25 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. John is survived by his brother, Edward Cepis (Florence). He is predeceased by his sisters, Julie, Eleanor and Martha.
Visitation 6:00 to 9:00PM Friday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.
Funeral Service 10:00AM Saturday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 628 E. Chester Pike, Ridley Park. Burial Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
