Hertha Alfson Trefz, age 88, of North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of 604 Reed Ave, Manitowoc, died late Tuesday evening, October 1, 1996, at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
She was born January 16, 1908, in the town of Newton, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Herman and Anna (née Boeckman) Carstens.
Hertha married Bennett Alfson on October 7, 1929, at Manitowoc; he preceded her in death on November 14, 1984. She then married William A. Trefz April 2, 1988, in Manitowoc.
She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, William Trefz, Manitowoc; two sisters, Irene Kotchi, Manitowoc, Norma Kuffel, Manitowoc; a niece and her husband, Phyllis and Curtis Koepp, Mishicot; one great niece and her husband, Susan and Bradley Jorgensen, Appleton; along with other relatives and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bennett Alfson; her only son, Donald Ryan; two brothers-in-law, Stanley Kotchi and Lars Kuffel.
Funeral Services will be held at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc with entombment at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.
Memorials would be appreciated to the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
