ELMER LEE POLLARD
November 7, 1906 ~ March 8, 1909
Elmer, the 3-year-old son of Dr. and Mrs. T.H. Pollard was burned so severly Sunday morning that he died at 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Mrs. Pollard had gone out to milk and left the two children in the room. Elmer got hold of some matches that were left on a stand near the lamp and struck one of them, setting fire to his clothing. The little fellow ran to the bed and wrapped himself in the covering, smothering the flames.
The screams of the unfortunate child caused the mother to run to the house, and meeting the child on the back gallery, she stripped the clothing from him. The child had inhaled the flames and death ensued in 24 hours.
Dr. Pollard of Garvin was the attending physician.
The remains were taken to Pollard Tuesday for burial.
