LORAINE R. MICHELS
Loraine R. Michels, age 90, a resident of River Wood Estates, Manitowoc, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1920, in the town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Schaller) Rock. Loraine was a graduate of Kiel High School, class of 1939. On April 17, 1942, she married Robert J. Michels in Columbia, S.C. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2002. She was employed as a teacher aide with the Manitowoc Public Schools for many years. Loraine was a past member of the Knights of Columbus Womens Club and the Lady Foresters.
Survivors include her children: Robert and Carol Michels, Manitowoc, Roxanne and Gary Neuens, Wild Rose, Mark and Josine Michels, Boulder, Colo., Mary Kay and Peter Skubal, Deland, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Michelle Michels, Tracey Gritt, Robert A. Michels, John Martin, Robert Martin, Jacob Skubal, Tom Bacon; seven great-grandchildren; and two special nieces: Janet McKay and Pat Hartmann. Other relatives and friends also survive.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters: Kathryn Langemak, Marie Klaeser, Viola Walsdorf, Elisabeth Klaeser; and a brother: Norbert Rock.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen. Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and entombment of the cremated remains will be at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth, The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
The family would like to express their gratitude to River Wood Estates, Rivers Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center and Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, for their compassionate care given to Loraine.
Memorials would be appreciated to Roncalli High School, Manitowoc.
