ALBANY -- Mrs. Lillian H. Austin, 73, of Saratoga Ave., Waterford, died at Albany Medical Center Tuesday evening, after a brief illness. Born in Malone, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Agnes Miller Gilbert and wife of the late Charles J. Austin. Mrs. Austin had been employed at the former Times Mirror Publishing Co. of Menands as an administrative assistant. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Chris) Tommasini of Waterford and Mrs. William (Bernadette) Royce of Watervliet; one son, Charles (Chip) Austin, III of Watervliet and his wife, Joan Brennensthul; two sisters, Theresa Gross of Minnesota and Margaret Elsworth of Rochester, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hilary and Heather Tommasini of Waterford, Stacey, Melany and William Royce of Watervliet, Christopher Brennensthul and Charles Austin IV. The funeral will be held from the Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet, 9 a.m. Friday morning. Friends are invited to attend and may call at the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 143 Oakwood Ave., Troy, Thursday, 4-8 p.m. Interment, New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush. Arrangements by the BOCKETTI FUNERAL HOME Troy, New York (518) 274-4710

Lillian was the daughter of Delbert Gilbert, born in 1899 in Malone, Franklin County, NY and died in December of 1980 in Watervliet, NY and Agnes (Miller), born in about 1903 probably also in Franklin County, NY. She had 8 brothers and sisters - John, Mary, Edward, Margaret, Dorothy, Robert, Esther and Theresa. Charles and Lillian were married on Feb. 26, 1949 in Watervliet, NY and lived in Rochester, NY from 1950 until about 1957. During that time Lillian's parents lived in Rochester and she wanted to be closer to them. They moved back to Watervliet to live with Charles Austin, Sr. When Charles Austin, Sr. passed away in 1957 stayed in that home.
