Gerald E. (Skip) Schmidlkofer, age 75, a Manitowoc resident, went to his eternal rest Wednesday evening, March 18, 2015 at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay.

He was born on May 18, 1939 in Chilton, son of the late Alois Schmidlkofer and Edith (Arenz) Voigt. Skip was a graduate of Chilton High School, Class of 1958 and also Silver Lake College and Lakeshore Technical College. He was a Veteran of the Army National Guard. On November 28, 1959 he married the former Barbara Flack in Chilton. Skip was employed at Toth Nursing Home, Chilton, for three years as an assistant director. He then was employed with Calumet County Memorial Hospital for 14 years as a physical therapist and head of ambulance service. He then became director of purchasing for Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, for 21 years. Skip retired in 2005. He was an alderman in Chilton and also coached boys Little League and was a Boy Scout Leader. He played semi pro football for the Sheboygan Redwings from 1958 - 1959 and was a member of the AC Club from 1958 - 1975. Skip also managed a women’s softball team at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. He was a member of the Manitowoc Yacht Club and was a Past Commodore. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, building model ships, working in his flower garden, bird watching, vacationing in Florida and being with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife: Barbara, Manitowoc; three sons and daughters-in-law: Brian and Sue Schmidlkofer, Whitelaw, Craig and Heidi Schmidlkofer, Manitowoc, Jeff and Katie Schmidlkofer, Sheboygan; one daughter and son-in-law: Ginger and Chris Bertschy, Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Heather, Logan, Jade, Hunter and Jake; one great granddaughter: Mariah; four brothers and three sisters-in-law: Joe Schmidlkofer, Chilton, Al and Karen Schmidlkofer, New Holstein, LeRoy and Debbie Schmidlkofer, Oconomowoc, Dennis and Cindy Schmidlkofer, Sherwood; his mother-in-law: Betty Flack, Chilton; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Jackie and Walt Erbach, Madison; and his special dog: Jimmy. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and step father: Alois Schmidlkofer, Edith and Gary Voigt; his father-in-law: Jack Flack; and one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Judy and Harold Hanke.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at All-Care Center, 925 S. 14th Street (located directly across from The Pfeffer Funeral Home), Manitowoc.
