John Landon Hatcher was born about 1818 in McEwen, Tennessee to John Hatcher (1792 – 1869) and Henrietta Ann Landrum (1792 – 1871). He married Louisa Craft (1821–1856) and they had eight children together. He then married Mary Ann Sizemore (1826–1890) on February 12, 1857, in Dickson County, Tennessee. He died on August 19, 1878, in Tennessee, at the age of 60, and was buried in John Landon Hatcher Cemetery on Bradley Road.
