Fredl as he was known lost a hand fighting for his country in war that went against his beliefs, like the majority of the German army most soliders were drafted and had no choice but were not ever afiliated with the Nazi Party. Fredl fits into that mold. He worked as a salesman. He was very close to his two boys. The Ziegelwanger's marriage was not perfect, but they did love each other. Fredl was climbing over a fence and got a nasty cut. He recieved a tetnus shot without being told what it was. Alfred Ziegelwanger was allergic to tetnus and died at age 42. Though what would have become of their marriage is never known Resi never re-married. She worked hard to support her family and make up for the void left by his death.
