OBITUARY
Charley H. Ashley, 55 years old, died at his home Thursday, Apr. 12, just about 30 yards from the house in which he was born.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, Apr. 13, 1934 at Powell Christian Church in the Indian Grove community. Burial was in the Powell Cemetery.
Charley H. Ashley, the son of J.W. and Mary E. Ashley, was born Apr. 5, 1877, near Guthridge's Mill. He was married to Miss Pearl Munden, June 27, 1917. Seven children were born to this union, six of whom survive. They are- Ralph, Jesse, Myrtle, Violet, Charley and Nola Ashley. Noble Lee Ashley preceded his father in death on June 17, 1931.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Roy Shoop of Rothville, and Mrs. Odelia Burchett of Kansas City; two brothers, O.N. Ashley of Kansas City, and Jesse Ashley of Marceline; besides a host of friends and relatives.
The Indian Grove community has lost a noble citizen, for Mr. Ashley was always ready and willing to do anything he could for the benefit of this community.
