He was born Aug. 4, 1911, in Galesburg to Frank and Anna (Englund) Sandburg. He married Marie Offerman Aug. 18, 1964, in Macomb. She survives, along with one stepson, Max Offerman of Wallace, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Yetta Blumberg of Skokie; two brothers, Frank Sandburg of Galesburg and Robert Sandburg of Muscatine, Iowa; three sisters, Florence Sprinkle of Galesburg, Alice Brown of Macomb and Louise Anderson of Altona; and six grandchildren.
