RAINS, Mrs. Nellie Lawrence, 76, 1023 Chestnut Street, passed away at a local Hospital Sunday at 1 p.m. after a brief illness.
She is survived by two sons, Hobdy G. Rains, Gadsden, Fred H. Rains, Trenton, Ga.; two daughters, Miss Willie G Rains and Mrs. Sharron Stephens, Gadsden and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled at 3:220 p.m. today for Collier-Butler Chapel with Dr. Oscar A. Davis and Rev. W. ? Davis officiating. Interment will be in Forrest Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Judge Virgil Pittman, Eugene Camp, Purser Pentecost, Mercer Thomas, Tom Banks, R.B. Ford, Max Mosley, Jerry Barnett. Honorary pallbearers are all personal friends.
Mrs. Rains was a native of Cherokee County and a resident of Etowah county for 45 years. She was the wife of the late W. G. Rains, prominent Gadsden attorney, and daughter of the late John and Martha Cate Lawrence. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. The body will remain at Collier-Butler through the hour of service.
