Sunday, 4 December 1949-GADSDEN TIMES {"The Gadsden Times"; newspaper; Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama).
Funeral services for Will G. Rains, prominent Gadsden attorney who died here Saturday, will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Collier-Butler Chapel.
Rains, who was 65 years old, died at a local hospital after several days illness.
Rains practiced law here for 31 years, first with his brother, Congressman Albert Rains and alter with his son, Hobdy Rains. He served two terms as circuit solicitor and for a number of years was attorney for the city of Gadsden.
A graduate of Albertville Agriculture College and the University of Alabama, he was a member of the First Baptist Church, a Mason, member of the I.O.O.F., Kiwanis Club, Salesman Club, Real Estate Board and a member of the state Democratic Executive Committee.
Rains was born in DeKalb County and moved here 37 years ago.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nellie Lawrence Rains, two sons, Hobdy G. Rains, Gadsden, and Fred Rains, of Chattanooga; two daughters, Miss Willie G. Rains and Mrs. Sharron Stephens, Gadsden; five brothers, J.B. Ranis and Marvin Rains of Ft. Payne, Dr. John R. Rains of Little Rock, Ark., Congressman Albert Rains, Gadsden and Wallace Rains, Birmingham; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Baxter, Ft. Payne, Mrs. W.A. Michaels, Talladega and Mrs. Everett King, Tampa, Fla. and three grandchildren.
Interment will be at Forrest Cemetery and Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
