January 5, 2014. She was born in Dow, IL to John and Mary Bechtold. She graduated from high school in Alton, IL and worked the family farm. At the age of 20 she travelled to California with her girlfriend and met her future husband, Hector Estrada, at the Cardinal Club of St. Andrew's in Pasadena, CA. They were happily married for over 44 years until Hector passed away in 2002.
Cathy is survived by her seven children, 22 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a multitude of siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and the Church were her life. She went the extra mile to support her children's activities of soccer, basketball, fishing, hiking, and backpacking. Early on she taught them the lives of the saints and the scriptural rosary. As the years went by she had three back operations to try and reinforce a spine that was becoming more and more bent with scoliosis and osteoporosis. Through it all, she did what she always told her children to do: offer it up. Her last years were an enduring act of redemptive suffering, serving as the ideal role model to lead us to Christ.
A vigil service and rosary will be on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 7:00PM at St. Dorothy's Catholic Church, 241 S. Valley Center Ave. Glendora, CA 91741. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00AM. A reception will follow immediately in the hall until 1:00PM. Burial will take place at 1:30M at Holy Cross Cemetery, 444 East Lexington Ave. Pomona, CA 91766.
