John O. Hopper, age 93, of Nixa MO formerly of Sarcoxie, MO, passed away Monday morning, March 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

John entered this life on January 2, 1922 in Bergman, AR to the union of the late Mike and Tressie (Butler) Hopper. John was a 1940 graduate of Bergman High School.

After graduation he proudly served in the United States Army from 1942 and returning home in 1945.

On May 7, 1965 he was united in marriage to June Holloway at Wilburton, OK. Together they shared forty seven years of wonderful memories until her passing on February 18, 2013. John and June enjoyed 42 years together on their small farm in Sarcoxie MO. He attended the Assembly of God Church of Sarcoxie. John was an over the road truck driver for 36 years with Yellow Freight and retired in 1987. He enjoyed full time farming after retirement. He was a member of the local Teamsters Union # 823 and a VFW member of the former Sarcoxie lodge. John enjoyed his horses, cows, farming, and attending livestock auctions. Once a month he would meet his former trucking buddies for coffee.

He was Pro-Guns and Pro-America and would only purchase, drive and wear products made in the U.S.A. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and loved spending time with his family and friends.

John is survived by his children, Joe Hopper and wife Brooke of Nixa, Sally Macaulay and husband John of Joplin MO, John Hopper and wife Debbie of Bentonville Arkansas, and Linda Osborne and husband Leland of Carthage MO; grandchildren Taylor Hopper, Harli Hopper, Londyn Hopper, Jeff Kinney, Brian (Michelle) Osborne, Tracey Osborne, Ryan (Heather) Hopper and Robyn (Justin) Bourlon; several great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Cotton Hopper and one sister, Vivian Simmons.

Funeral services for Mr. Hopper are 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at the funeral home with Kenneth Filsinger officiating. Visitation will be 12:30-1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial to follow at Sarcoxie Cemetery with full military honors. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Glen Bird, Jeff Kinney, Mike Kinney, Ryan Hopper, Ronnie Holloway, Brian Osborne, Carl Hopper, Duane Holloway, Del Holloway, Mike Hopper and Buddy West.
