Mrs. Ulalie Bowles, 86, a lifelong resident of Worden and Staunton, died at her home in Worden at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.
Born May 26, 1872 near Staunton, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Best. Her husband, Louis W. Bowles; a daughter, Mrs. Ona Wohlert, and a son, Jesse, preceded her in death.
Survivors include six sons, the Rev. Mayo Bowles, pastor of Grace Methodist church, Alton; James Bowles, also of Alton; Levi and Ira Bowles, both of Livingston; Barney of Chesterfield and John Bowles of Edwardsville. There are 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, William Best, Worden, and Edgar Best of near Staunton; and a sister, Mrs. May Grant of Worden also survive.
She was a member of Worden Methodist church. Funeral services were held Monday.
Pallbearers were Robert and Frank Bowles, Harold Best, Ira Bowles Jr., Ben Wohlert and Kenneth Bowles.
